Hydrogen Fluoride Point Detector
The Shur-Shot provides reliable hydrogen fluoride detection without the complications of calibration or cross-sensitivity. Its rugged design ensures consistent performance in extreme environments, while the replaceable sensor tip enables fast, predictable, and hassle-free operation. Class I, Division 1 certification allows for flexible installation in hazardous locations.

Principle of Operation
Shur-Shot operation is based on the very specific reaction of HF with a unique glass-like coating on a shiny substrate in the sensor tip. HF is the only gas that causes etching of the coating, resulting in a very specific response, with no interferences.
The etching of the coating is detected by monitoring reflectance produced by a red LED, transmitting and receiving through a fiber optic cable to the sensor tip.
When HF is present, the reflectance increases, as indicated by the increasing 4-20 mA signal. The detector is set up to read 8 mA with a fresh sensor, and output will remain at this level as long as no HF is present. In the case of a significant release, the output goes to >12 mA within seconds.

I/O and Certification
The Shur-Shot is a 4-wire, 24VDC device with a 4-20 mA analog loop for communications.
The active electrical components are housed in an explosion proof enclosure. The enclosure has a NEMA 4 rating, with the following approvals: UL, CSA and FM for Class 1, Div. 1, groups B, C and D, Class II, Groups E, F, and G Class III hazardous locations.
